Skate Night!
The kids had TV turn off week at school. As a reward for their efforts, the school had a skate night at one of the local rinks. They have done this for the last couple of years. So I knew from experience that my kids needed some special skates. We tried to find the ones that only skate forward. But, of course, they are too old for that kind of skate. So we compromised at bought them sneaker skates- the ones where the wheels can fold up inside the shoes. They were soooo excited about having "heelies" as the kids call them. Montana got the hang of it right away and skated for two hours without even stopping. She wanted no help at all-didn't even want us to skate by her. Justice went around a couple times with Eric holding one hand and me holding his other hand. He was really struggling. We tried adjusting his skates a few different ways but he just wanted to walk. So we skated a little bit with him just walking next to us. He loved that. Just as we were about to leave one of Justices' friends showed up. They skated around on the carpet together. It was pretty cute. Then they turned the lights out and the neon, purple, and strobe lights came out. So did all the teenagers. So we knew it was definately time to call it a night. All in all it was a great night and the kids had a blast. Now they want to skate all over the neighborhood. The fun is just beginning!! We will have to invest in some safety pads for sure.
