Mom and Dad picked me up this morning bright and early so that we could head up to Blackfoot Idaho. My cousin Jordan was having his missionary farewell. He was called to Portugal. He gave a really great talk. It was really nice to hear him be so spiritual. It's awesome to see young men who take this direction in their life. It is such a great experience for them.
After the meeting we had a HUGE BBQ at the Idaho Mc's home. It was like a family reunion on both of their sides of the family. I saw people I haven't seen forever. It was a great time. They had recently had a flood in their home while they were on vacation- so everything was ruined. Consequently, they had remodeled the whole basement, the backyard, and their family room. It was so nice. They decorated one room as a "Harley" Room. My dad was drooling and getting excited to decorate his basement in this style. It was funny. They also were playing a Blue-Ray DVD disc on their flat screen TV. It was seriously so clear. I thought it was like a 3d version of the movie or something. WOW!
On the way back it was such a storm. Dirt was swirling around in the wind- which was blowing the car one way and the other. The clouds were BLACK and scary looking. It was raining so hard and there were flooded areas of the road where we had to splash through slowly. When cars would pass they would cover the car with water from splashing. It was nerve wracking- but dad did a fantastic job of getting us home safely. And I am proud to say I was able to sleep through 2 hours of this hair raising drive. I literally can sleep anywhere, anytime. It's a talent.

Tana's Hard Cast
We went back up to Primary's today to get Tana's hard cast. She picked red because she said it was "hot"! She makes me laugh! She will have this bent elbow cast for four weeks- then we will xray and see how she is progressing. She may need a shorter cast for a couple of weeks after that. We will see! She is loving the barbie arm!

First Day of School! Wahoo!!
It finally arrived!! The day all my kids are in school for the full day!! I love my kids dearly- but after 14 years of spending the day with them, and a summer full of boredom and nerve grating- I was more than ready. It was bittersweet. But mostly sweet. Now I can get some schoolwork and sleep in.
The cheer moms decided to decorate the girls lockers to honor them as the year kicks off. They do a lot for the school and no one ever cheers for them. So it was fun and I included pics of how cute it turned out. Sierra looked awesome with her platinum blonde hair and summer tan.
Then it was the little ones turn. Off to the elementary- first Justice to his first grade class. He wasn't nervous at all- in fact he was annoyed that I came into the classroom with him. hmph- so much for mom. Then I took Tana to her classroom. She was super nervous- but I think she will be fine after a few days. With her broken arm, and glasses I was really worried that the kids might tease her. But she seemed very happy when she came home.
So all in all- we are off to a great start. The kids liked their teachers and are excited to go back tomorrow. Yeah for school!!

CRS
I just turned 38 and have developed a troubling disease. It's one my grandmother has warned me about and I have felt the symptoms coming on for a while. It's called Can't Remember Shizz. Just yesterday I lost an important check, & Montana's birthday candles for her party cake. I walk into a room on a mission to do or get something- I get there- and have no idea what I am doing. This is so annoying!! I have started doing crossword puzzles to strengthen my brain. I have also heard that working out improves your memory- as well as your physique. I need to hit the gym. Pronto.

Montana's E.R. Birthday!

We were off to the park yesterday with Cousin Nickie, her kids and Grama Dodie for a fun birthday lunch with Montana. We were running late of course and had only been there long enough to eat lunch, kids were off playing, adults were chit-chatting. I think we were there about 20 minutes- and Rhett comes running over to tell me that Montana and fallen and broken her arm. I went running over and she was all balled up in pain- her arm was S shaped when I looked at it, and I immediately knew it was broken. So we grabbed all our stuff and ran off to the Urgent Care. She was screaming in pain the whole way there and in the waiting room. Sierra was so good to hold Montana's arm the whole time. They took her xrays and it was a clean break through both the radius and ulna arm bones. They wrapped her in a splint and sling and sent us up to Primary Children's Hospital for possible surgery and pins. They also told us to plan on her staying overnight at the hospital. We were scared to death- especially Tana.
We finally found where we were going and they examined the xrays we brought with us. To our relief they said she would not need surgery and that they could just set it. I decided to stay in the room because they were going to put her to sleep while they set it and gave her morphine for the pain. I was very worried about how she would do with the drugs. Montana was making everyone laugh because she was so paranoid about every little thing- even the blood pressure machine, and the IV lead. She looked down and saw this thing sticking out of her hand (the iv) and started screaming. All the nurses laughed- we were trying to calm her down- but it was quite funny.
Then they brought in all these machines and wires and there were 5 nurses and doctors all buzzing around her in this tiny little room. She fell asleep quickly and they went right to work. The orthopedic nurse was pushing with her knee and hands on this poor little arm- man handling her until I thought every bone in her arm would break. There were several big pops and cracks as the bones were set in place. They had an xray machine there to monitor the progress as they went. It was horrifying and amazing at the same time. I'm so grateful she didn't need surgery- but I wish I wouldn't have watched that whole scene. It will give me nightmares for quite a while. What a job that is.
She woke up right away and didn't remember or feel a thing. The first thing she said was "Oh, that feels better." That made me laugh through my tears. She had a really rough night and couldn't get comfortable or sleep. Sierra was so sweet and stayed up with me to help take care of her. She is such a good kid. Tana seems to be doing better today and getting a little more use to it. She still is on some heavy pain killers- but hopefully we can wean her off of those quickly.
The pic is her xray AFTER the setting and it looks a lot better. She did not want me taking pictures of her in the hospital or even today, which I can understand. She will keep her splint on for two weeks and then get her hard cast which will stay on for 3-4 weeks. So her Happy Birthday was quite eventful. Thank goodness her party isn't until Friday. Hope she will be feeling like her old silly self by then.

The Gymastics Debate

Mom and I were having a disagreement today about Mary Lou Retton. She thought she was injured on the vault and carried off by coach Bella Carolli (spelling?), but still got a 10.00. Well she was half right. Kerri Strug was the injured one that was carried off by the coach. After looking it up on you tube I was suprised at A. How similar Kerri and Mary Lou look (same hair cut, color, and eyes), and that their leotards were very similar also- so I could see how people would mix it up (although I did not- hee hee) Anyhoo, since I looked it up I thought I would share the videos. So here you go mom- the proof!!! hee hee

Olympics

Growing up- my family has always been totally into the Olympics! From the Opening ceremonies, all the events possible, to the Closing ceremonies. We were watching the DVR of the opening ceremonies last night with my dad. Dad and I are oohing and aahing about how cool it is, and the technology, and how would you ever think of something like that. Meanwhile, Eric is asleep. What? We watched as all the countries were coming in, and commenting on the population of the countries, their outfits, etc. Eric is totally bored. Are we weird to enjoy this? I think not. I especially loved the Dancers that painted the blank paper, the drummers, and the little block pattern thing! I thought it was so amazing. Also as the Olympians were marching in and walking across the chalk and then across the painting- that was genius and so cool to see it transform as more and more people came in. We had to leave before the lighting of the flame- so I will watch that when I get a moment.
Ok- a few of my favorite events that I hope not to miss are: Diving, Every Gymnastics event, Synchronized Swimming, Hopefully they will air some TaeKwonDo for Justice to watch, and of course the basketball. I wish they had American Football! Now that I would watch!! Anyhoo- Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

Movie Mania/School
We have been on a movie kick the last few days. We rented movies, went to the theatre, and then took the kids to the drive-inn. Nothing like a movie to blow off some steam. The Drive-Inn is still the best way to see a movie. Out in the beautiful, cool night air. Cheap admission, bring your own popcorn and snacks. We bring lawnchairs, and the kids like to sit on the hood and on top of the car with pillows and blankets. You can't beat it. So here is the Nugent Movie Review.
27 dresses: Definately a chick flick, cute, entertaining, but predictable.
Untraceable: CREEPY, DISGUSTING, but strangely informative. Definately earned the R rating.
Mummy: (Chinese Dragon or something): Parts of it were good, mostly the Chinese legend and fight scenes, but the rest of it was cheesy and weird. I thought it was 80% lame, 20% cool.
Space Chimps: A total kid movie, I laughed a couple times, the story line was cute, but definately rent it, do not spend theatre money on this movie.
Journey to the Center of the Earth: I was not excited to see this, especially after the Mummy fiasco- but I loved it. We did not get to see it in 3D, but I am sure it would have been even better. I haven't read the book, or seen the old movie- so it was totally new to me and I thought the story was so amazing. I can't wait to read the book now. I would definately recommend it- and I would love to see it again in 3D.
That's it for the movies for now.
School Update:
I have made it through the first few days unscathed. The first day, I thought I was losing my mind- but the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th days have helped me get into a better rhythm. TTYL.
